Historic Prices

For the past few weeks the price at the pumps has steadily increased and it seems that no one is paying attention.  Not just three years ago in 2008 U.S. gas prices were at an all time high level and everybody including their mama were up in arms over the prices. But now in true American fashion we have allowed the fact that this is not our first time seeing something cloud our judgement.  For some reason we Americans allow our media to desensitize us to things that we would normally view as outraging, for example the tragedy of Hurricane Katrina was on our news so much that we as American Citizens did not step up and demand our government to do more than they did for our fellow countrymen.  Now we have national average gas prices of $3.12 as of Friday according to AAA, which by the way seems to be the only organization watching these prices.

2008 Prices

Oil analyst Tom Kloza of Oil Price Information Service estimated that by spring the average price will rise to between $3.50 and $3.75 a gallon.  Of course if these are average prices we can expect prices in most Urban markets to reach beyond the $4.00 level or higher.  Will we set by idle and watch major oil companies once again surpass their top earnings or will we as a people finally speak up and stand up for ourselves.  We cannot afford to allow our Government and Big Oil to continue to raid our wallets with a natural resource that controls so many things in our lives including some of our livelihoods.
